Habitat Restoration
Project

A major focus this year was the removal of invasive plant species in selected areas of Jonathan’s Woods, an effort spearheaded by board member Jeff Scheidecker.

Restoration is an ongoing effort, and we welcome anyone who wants to make a hands-on difference to join us as we care for and restore the habitat.

In 2025, POWWW launched an ambitious habitat restoration project focused on removing invasive species such as mile-a-minute vine, multiflora rose, and barberry. Volunteers gathered every other week to clear invasive species and plant native species to restore balance to the landscape. While the work was challenging, the impact is lasting: healthier soil, stronger native plant communities, and improved habitat for wildlife. Restoration is an ongoing effort, and continued volunteer support is essential to its success. We welcome anyone who wants to make a hands-on difference to join us as we care for and rebuild this vital ecosystem.
